Astra Zeneca - Long Service Awards
Interview with Rachael Vipond - Cheshire Operations Manager
AstraZeneca is one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, employing over 65,000 staff, 10,000 of whom are based in the UK. A key site in the AstraZeneca global network is its major facility at Alderley Park, Cheshire which is home to some of the worlds most skilled and experienced science professionals working at the frontiers of medicine.
AstraZeneca has been a client of Cottrills for over 10 years. Employees reaching 20, 30, 35 and 40 years service are awarded Cottrills Aspirations vouchers and enjoy the benefit of receiving their long service award(s) through Cottrills via our branded online reward platform ‘Aspirations Online’.
AstraZeneca agreed to answer a few questions regarding their long service award scheme.
Q: Why a long service award scheme?
A: "An organisation is only as good as its people, we could not be where we are today without our workforce, our long service award scheme is an important element of our overall benefits package and certainly contributes to our success with staff retention."
Q" Why Cottrills?
A: "As well as offering a large range of quality gifts, being able to out-source the administration to Cottrills means that my team can spend more time on more pressing tasks. Cottrills also offered an ‘aftersales’ service which enables recipients with any questions or queries to call Cottrills direct rather than contacting us."
Q: How does the administration function work?
A: "Upon employees reaching their Long Service Award anniversary they are sent a voucher pack, branded to AstraZeneca’s corporate identity, containing Cottrills AspirationsTM vouchers and a congratulatory letter with details of the recipients unique username and password, and how to order their gifts online. This gives our employees the impression that the brochure has been sent internally."
Q: What do your employees think of the AspirationsTM points based format?
A: "The Aspirations™ reward mechanism has proved very successful with employees. They prefer the flexibility of the points system as it allows them to select several gifts rather than just one large gift, which was the traditional format we used to use."
Q: What has the feedback from recipients been like?
A: " Recipients have reported that the brands featured are very popular, especially ranges like Panasonic, Hoover and Sony. The recipients especially liked the home delivery option. Several recipients have called attention to Cottrills’ Van Driver, Rick Robinson, who has been described as a ‘Super Star’ with many reports of his helpful and courteous manner."
